Residents at Abesim in the Juaben Municipality of the Ashanti region have appealed to the Member of Parliament for Juaben Hon Ama Pomaa and their assembly to facilitate the completion of an abandoned toilet facility.
The stalled 14-seater water closet facility was put up eight months ago after demolishing the dilapidated one which was serving the community.
According to the residents, persistent appeals have been carried to the Juaben Municipal Assembly for the completion of the facility but as to no avail.
Report gathered confirms that, the absence of the toilet facility in the area has resorted most of the residents into open defecations.
Most schools and churches were seen to be victims of this canker.
Some of the residents, lamented about how they are normally compelled to clear faecal matter before accessing their houses and compounds.
“Anytime visitors come to the community, there are no washrooms available for them and so they are left with no other choice than to join us in the bush”, they said
Authorities are therefore urged to come to their aid with toilet facilities to avoid any disease outbreak
Speaking with the Assembly member for the Abesim Electoral area, Hon Kwadwo Sarpong, the call for toilet facilities became necessary because of how bad the situation had become.
According to honorable member, he had on several occasions written to the assembly to help find the contractor to complete the project but nothing had been done to resolved the problem.
