**Kweku Baako Criticizes NAPO for Nana Addo-Nkrumah Comparison, Calls It a Needless Distraction**

In a recent critique, veteran journalist Kweku Baako has taken issue with Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, for his comparison of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Baako labeled the comparison as a needless distraction that detracts from more pressing national issues.

During a public address last week, NAPO, who serves as the Minister of Energy, praised President Akufo-Addo’s leadership and development initiatives, drawing parallels between his accomplishments and those of Dr. Nkrumah. The remarks quickly sparked a heated debate across political and social platforms, with many questioning the appropriateness of the comparison.

In his response, Kweku Baako, Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, expressed disappointment over NAPO’s comments, arguing that they were not only unnecessary but also served to divert attention from more critical issues facing the country.

“The comparison between President Akufo-Addo and Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was a needless distraction. At a time when Ghanaians are grappling with significant challenges, our leaders should focus on addressing those issues rather than engaging in unproductive comparisons,” Baako stated during a radio interview.

Baako emphasized that while recognizing the achievements of current leaders is important, it should not be done in a way that overshadows the pressing needs of the populace. He pointed out that Ghana is currently dealing with economic hardships, infrastructural deficits, and other socio-economic problems that require urgent attention.

“Instead of comparing leaders from different eras with different contexts, let’s concentrate on finding solutions to the problems that Ghanaians face today. This is what the citizens expect from their leaders,” Baako added.

The veteran journalist’s remarks have resonated with many who feel that the political discourse should remain focused on practical solutions and governance rather than historical comparisons. Critics of NAPO’s comments argue that such statements can polarize public opinion and distract from the government’s accountability on current issues.

Supporters of NAPO, however, have defended his comments, asserting that the comparison was meant to highlight President Akufo-Addo’s efforts in advancing the nation’s development agenda. They argue that drawing parallels with Dr. Nkrumah’s legacy was intended to inspire confidence and pride in the current administration’s achievements.

Despite the differing views, Baako’s critique underscores a broader call for political leaders to prioritize addressing the immediate concerns of Ghanaians. As the nation navigates complex challenges, the focus remains on effective governance and practical solutions to improve the quality of life for all citizens.

Kweku Baako’s intervention serves as a reminder of the importance of staying grounded in the realities of contemporary governance, encouraging leaders to channel their energies towards tangible progress and positive change.
