**NPP Confirms Mathew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) as Running Mate for Bawumia**

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has confirmed Mathew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, as the running mate for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

NAPO, who currently serves as the Minister of Energy, brings a wealth of experience and a strong track record in public service to the ticket. He is widely respected for his tenure as the Minister of Education, where he implemented significant reforms aimed at improving Ghana’s educational system.

Dr. Bawumia, the NPP’s presidential candidate, expressed confidence in his choice, highlighting NAPO’s dedication, expertise, and vision for the future of Ghana. “Mathew Opoku Prempeh has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to the progress of our nation. I am confident that together, we will build on the achievements of the NPP and work towards a prosperous future for all Ghanaians,” said Dr. Bawumia.

The announcement has been met with a mix of enthusiasm and scrutiny from various quarters. Supporters within the NPP lauded the decision, viewing NAPO as a strong complement to Dr. Bawumia’s economic expertise. “NAPO’s experience in education and energy, coupled with his dynamic leadership style, makes him an excellent choice for vice president,”

However, opposition parties and some political analysts have raised questions about the effectiveness of the duo, pointing to challenges faced in both the education and energy sectors during NAPO’s ministerial tenure. Critics argue that while NAPO’s reforms in education were ambitious, their implementation was met with mixed results.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC), the main opposition party, was quick to respond to the announcement. “While we respect the NPP’s choice, we believe that Ghanaians will judge the candidates based on their track record and ability to address the pressing issues facing the country,”

As the campaign season heats up, the Bawumia-NAPO ticket is expected to focus on continuity and innovation, emphasizing economic stability, educational advancement, and energy sector improvements. The NPP’s strategy will likely center on showcasing their achievements over the past years and presenting a forward-looking agenda that addresses the aspirations of Ghanaians.

The 2024 general elections are poised to be highly competitive, with the NPP and NDC both fielding strong candidates. As both parties gear up for intense campaigning, the electorate will closely scrutinize their platforms and promises.
