Under the new fee structure, applicants seeking standard passport processing will be required to pay 500 Cedis, while those opting for expedited service will pay 800 Cedis. Despite concerns about affordability, some members of the public have welcomed the fee increase as a necessary step to improve the efficiency and reliability of passport issuance procedures, citing long-standing challenges with delays and inefficiencies in the current system.”Waiting times for passports have been unacceptably long, and the quality of service has often been subpar.
If the fee increase helps to expedite processing times and improve service quality, then it’s a price worth paying,” remarked Nana Ofori, a frequent traveler, expressing support for the government’s efforts to modernize passport services.
