*NPP Has the Men to Stabilise the Cedi – Justin Frimpong Kodua**

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has confidently asserted that the NPP possesses the expertise and capability to stabilize the Ghanaian cedi. Speaking at a press briefing on Monday, Kodua emphasized the party’s strategic economic plans and the competence of its economic management team.

Kodua’s remarks come amidst ongoing concerns over the volatility of the cedi, which has faced fluctuations against major international currencies. Addressing the media, Kodua assured Ghanaians that the NPP is fully equipped to address the economic challenges and restore confidence in the national currency. “We have the men, the knowledge, and the experience to stabilize the cedi. Our team has a proven track record of implementing sound economic policies,” he declared.

Highlighting the achievements of the NPP government, Kodua pointed to various fiscal and monetary policies that have been instrumental in previous efforts to stabilize the economy. “During our tenure, we have introduced measures such as the establishment of the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC) and the Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation (GIISDEC), which are aimed at bolstering our industrial base and enhancing foreign exchange earnings,” he explained.

Kodua also underscored the importance of building investor confidence and attracting foreign direct investment (FDI). He cited recent investments in infrastructure and the digital economy as evidence of the NPP’s ability to create a conducive environment for economic growth. “Our policies have attracted significant FDI, which is crucial for economic stability and the appreciation of the cedi. We will continue to pursue initiatives that foster a robust economic climate,” he added.

In response to criticism from opposition parties, particularly the National Democratic Congress (NDC), regarding the current economic situation, Kodua argued that global economic challenges have impacted many countries, not just Ghana. He called for a collective effort to address the economic issues and urged Ghanaians to trust the NPP’s experienced team to navigate the complexities of the global economy.

“While we acknowledge the difficulties, it is important to note that these challenges are not unique to Ghana. The NPP is committed to implementing policies that will mitigate the impact and ensure sustainable economic growth,” Kodua affirmed.

As the political landscape heats up ahead of the 2024 general elections, the stability of the cedi and the broader economic situation will undoubtedly be central issues for voters. The NPP’s promise of economic stability, spearheaded by experienced technocrats, will be closely scrutinized by the electorate as they weigh their options at the polls.
