*Akosombo Dam Spillage: Heads Must Roll To Show Some Seriousness In Your Government For Once ~~~~ Group Fires Akufo Addo.*

A pressure group, calling itself Citizens For Truth And Accountability-Ghana (CITAG) has called on President Nana Addo Danquah- Akuffo Addo to dismiss the Chief Executive Officer of the Volta River Authority and the director for National Disaster Management Organization to serve as a deterrent.

The call for their dismissal follows what the group has identified as a failure on the part of the latter in ensuring to safeguarding the welfare of residents who have been affected by the spillage of the Akosombo dam.

Citizens For Truth And Accountability-Ghana noted that, the flood is a Crime against Humanity.

The group convenor, Dr. Clement Clinton Blay addressing the Media in Takoradi on Wednesday, 18th October, he emphasized that the people involved must be duly punished for their negligence and miscalculation for not having a proper plan to evacuate the residents to a safer place in time before the spilling the dam.

The group believes that VRA and NADMO cannot tell Ghanaians that they didn’t know they would spill this amount of water to have put in place proactive measures.

For the interim, Dr. Clement Clinton Blay has called on the government to declare a state of emergency to draw the necessary attention to residents affected by the spillage of the Akosombo Dam.

The Human Rights and Accountability group has bemoaned the government’s inactive posture towards the current situation in a quest to provide proper relief for the affected victims.

Dr. Clement Clinton Blay has again described President Akufo-Addo’s comment passed during his visit to the affected victims as reckless, ethnocentric and insensitive because, he believes, the President’s comments is a direct insults to the plight of the flood victims.

Thus, the group is asking President Akufo-Addo to apologize to victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage for his “hate comments” during his visit to the community to empathize with them.

Moreover, the group is calling on government to provide urgent and immediate support to the victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage.

Their request came after accusing President Akufo Addo of failing to prioritize the welfare of ordinary citizens in the area in the face of adversity.

They mentioned that, it would be proper to establish a permanent resettlement of the communities affected and compensation for the destruction of properties.

Dr. Clement Clinton Blay who spoke on behalf of the group used the opportunity to express their deep sympathy for the victims affected by the Akosombo Dam spillage.
