Ejisu By-Election: Kwabena Owusu Aduomi Supporters Accuse NPP of Vote Buying at Fumesua

Tensions flared in the run-up to the highly anticipated by-election in Ejisu as supporters of Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, a prominent candidate, leveled accusations of vote buying against the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Fumesua, a key locality in the constituency.

The allegations surfaced amidst reports of a flurry of activity in Fumesua, where NPP representatives were purportedly distributing monetary incentives and other inducements to sway voters in favor of their candidate.

Speaking on behalf of Aduomi’s supporters, spokesperson Akua Mensah condemned the alleged vote-buying tactics employed by the NPP, describing them as a blatant attempt to undermine the democratic process.

“We are deeply concerned by the reports of vote buying by our opponents. It is a flagrant violation of electoral ethics and a disservice to the principles of fair and transparent elections,” asserted Mensah.

The accusations come at a crucial juncture in the electoral contest, with the by-election in Ejisu poised to shape the political landscape of the constituency for the foreseeable future. Aduomi, a respected figure in Ejisu, has garnered significant support from the local community, making him a formidable contender in the race.

In response to the allegations, NPP officials vehemently denied any wrongdoing, dismissing the accusations as baseless and politically motivated. They emphasized their commitment to upholding the integrity of the electoral process and called for a fair and impartial investigation into the matter.

The controversy surrounding vote buying has reignited concerns about the prevalence of electoral malpractice in Ghanaian politics, prompting calls for greater vigilance and accountability from electoral authorities.

As the by-election draws near, the spotlight remains firmly fixed on Ejisu, where the battle for votes rages on amidst accusations and counteraccusations. With the fate of the constituency hanging in the balance, the outcome of the electoral contest will undoubtedly reverberate across the political landscape of Ghana.
