IEA Director of Research Acknowledges Concerns Over GH₵100 Chicken Prices Amid Economic Turnaround Claims

The Director of Research at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) has responded to growing concerns over the soaring price of chicken, currently priced at GH₵100, despite the IEA’s recent assertion that the economy has turned a corner.

In a press conference held earlier today, the IEA Director of Research addressed the apparent contradiction between the positive economic outlook presented by the institute and the increasing cost of essential goods. While reiterating the overall positive indicators, the director acknowledged that challenges persist in certain sectors, leading to disparities in the cost of living for citizens.

“We recognize the concerns raised by Ghanaians regarding the cost of goods, particularly the notable rise in chicken prices. The economic improvements we have observed are reflective of macroeconomic trends, but we understand the need for a more inclusive and balanced growth that directly impacts citizens,” stated the IEA representative.

The director emphasized that economic recovery is a multifaceted process and highlighted ongoing efforts to address specific challenges contributing to price hikes. The statement aimed to provide clarity on the IEA’s stance while acknowledging the genuine hardships faced by the public.

As citizens navigate the complexities of economic recovery and its impact on their daily lives, the IEA’s response underscores the importance of transparent communication and a comprehensive understanding of the factors influencing the cost of essential goods. The ongoing dialogue between economic institutions, policymakers, and the public will play a crucial role in shaping the nation’s economic trajectory in the coming months.
